What is the GotScholarship $40k Give Away drawing?
Through the drawing, GotChosen will award one (1) very lucky winner a US $40,000 SCHOLARSHIP. Funds must be used for “educational expenses”; tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment required for study, contribution to a 529 Plan or prepaid college program, or towards repayment of outstanding student loans. This is not a loan and there is no payback. The GotScholarship $40k Give Away is a FREE Scholarship.
How do I enter the GotScholarship $40K Give Away drawing?
Existing GotChosen users simply need to Login, and click the “Apply” button in the Scholarship Panel for the GotScholarship $40K Give away.
New visitors – Simply go to www.gotchosen.com and complete the brief registration profile. Once registered, you’ll be directed to your profile page and then can apply for the GotScholarship $40K Give Away drawing.
Eligible participants who do not have access to the internet and/or are unable to register online at www.gotchosen.com may complete a written registration by providing their name, e-mail address, date of birth, street address, city, state, zip, phone number, the name and the email address of the person who referred you (if any) on a 3” x 5” card. This may be submitted by mailing it in a first-class stamped envelope to GotChosen, 12472 Lake Underhill Road #397, Orlando, FL 32828. All written registrations must be postmarked no later than September 30, 2013. Please be sure to include all the information requested. Incomplete written registrations will be disregarded and you WILL NOT be registered to participate in this drawing. GotChosen is not responsible for mailing costs.
How do I increase my chances to win?
By inviting EVERYONE you know to sponsor you. Every sponsor equals another entry for you to win the GotScholarship $40K Give Away.
Detail instructions:
To be sponsored, you must be registered as a GotChosen user, and also have applied for the scholarship. The person who sponsors you must also be registered. You receive an additional entry each time someone sponsors you, thus increasing your chances of winning. There are two ways to request a sponsor:
- Go to your Profile page and send an individual e-mail invitation.
- Go to your Profile page, select the social network of your choice and, once logged in to your social network, share, tweet, or otherwise extend the invitation.
Sponsoring:
- To sponsor someone, you must be registered and the person you sponsor must also be registered and have applied for the scholarship. You can only sponsor one person, but you may be sponsored by an unlimited number of persons.
- You may increase your chances of winning by inviting one or more people to register and then sponsor you. Each person who does so gives you an additional entry. If those people also apply for a scholarship, then they will also each receive an entry.
- A person cannot sponsor himself or herself.
There are two ways to sponsor someone.
1. Go to your Profile page, type in the e-mail address of the person you wish to sponsor just below “Whom do you want to sponsor?”, then click the “Sponsor!” button.
2. Respond to an e-mail or social network post inviting you to sponsor someone.
How do I win?
All you have to do is register and apply for the GotScholarship $40K Give Away drawing. A random drawing from among all eligible entries received will be conducted in the U.S. under the direction of an independent auditing firm. The name of the winner will be announced on October 31, 2013 at http://www.gotchosen.com.
When does the scholarship drawing end?
The current scholarship drawing will end at 11:59PM Eastern Time on September 30, 2013 and a lucky winner will be announced on October 31, 2013 at http://www.gotchosen.com.
What if I don’t win? Do I get another chance?
Of course! There will be a GotScholarship $40K Give Away every 6 months, you’ll be required to re-apply for another chance to win. You’ll receive a notice at the start of each GotScholarship $40K Give Away drawing.
Who can register for the GotScholarship $40k Give Away drawing?
The GotChosen Scholarship Drawing is open to United States* and international students. All participants must be 18 years or older.
* Excluding residents of New York State.
How many people can register for the scholarship?
There are no limits to the number of registrants we can accept between March 18, 2013 and September 30, 2013.
How does the winner receive the scholarship winnings?
The US $40,000 scholarship will be issued in one US $10,000 installment per year for four consecutive years. Each installment amount will be payable to the winner or for the winner’s selected transferee/recipient.
Scholarship funds must be used for “educational expenses”; tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment required for study, contribution to a 529 Plan or prepaid college program, or towards repayment of outstanding student loans.
Can I register my underage son or daughter for the scholarship?
No, the winner of the scholarship must be 18 years or older. In the USA only, parents/guardians can apply and the winnings can be transferred to a 529 Plan for their underage son or daughter.
Is the GotScholarship $40k Give Away scholarship transferable?
YES – as long as the funds are used for qualified educational expenses. (person must be 18 years or older)
What if I don’t have any college debt, and I win, do I get the money?
NO – The winner must transfer the winning to someone who has “educational expenses” as described.
Will the drawing be audited?
YES – a random drawing from among all eligible entries received will be conducted in the U.S. under the direction of an independent auditing firm.

Who is eligible for the contest?
The contest is open to US and international students and alumni. Participants must be 18 years or older. The contest is offered to all fields of study.
What should the video be about? What limitations are there?
You must use one of the 5 categories:
- Best Original Music: Share your talent with an original musical piece (song or instrumental). Your submission must be completely original or it will be disqualified.
- Friends: Create a video about what the word “friends” means to you.
- Best Trip Ever: Make a video about your favorite travel adventures.
- Nature: Show us the beauty of nature.
- Helping Hands: What are you doing to make a difference?
Disqualification: GotChosen reserves the right to remove any video that contains content that is deemed offensive in accordance to the specifications outlined in GotChosen’s Rules and Regulations and at its sole discretion.
How long, and how big can my video be?
We recommend videos under 3 minutes.
In what file type (format) should my video be recorded?
Since your first step is to upload your video to YouTube, here are the supported YouTube file formats: .MOV, .MPEG4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, and WebM.
How do I submit my video?
In order to create your entry for the video contest, first, you must upload your video to YouTube, and then paste the link in the “Create New Entry” form.
Existing GotChosen users simply need to login, and create your entry for the Video Scholarship contest based on the 5 categories: Best Original Music, Friends, Best Trip Ever, Nature, or Helping Hands.
New visitors to GotChosen must: (1) complete an on-line registration and (2) create your entry for the Video Scholarship contest based on the 5 categories: Best Original Music, Friends, Best Trip Ever, Nature, or Helping Hands.
When is the video submission deadline?
Videos must be submitted during Phase One by July 31, 2013 | 11:59PM EDT.
Am I the only person that can be in the video?
Absolutely not. In fact, you don’t need to be in it at all. However, everyone in the video should understand that he or she is helping you win this scholarship. Should your video win, the only winner of the scholarship will be you, the registered GotChosen participant who submits the video.
How many videos will be chosen for the contest?
There will be five (5) winners. One grand prize winner will be awarded a US $3000 scholarship and four (4) runner-ups will be awarded a US $250 scholarship each.
How are winners determined?
The contest has two phases. During Phase One the top 20 videos with the most votes will move onto Phase Two. A panel of judges will then vote for one (1) grand prize winner and four (4) runner-ups. In case of a tie in Phase Two, the tie breaker will be the video that had the most votes in Phase One.
Who will be on the panel of judges?
The panel of judges will be represented by university professors, business entrepreneurs, and celebrities. Their identities will not be revealed until after the winners have been announced.
When will voting begin? When will it end?
Phase One voting will be available for the public from May 15, 2013 to July 31, 2013, 11:59 PM EDT. During Phase Two the participant’s videos will then be voted on by a panel of judges and winners will be announced by September 10, 2013.
Who can vote for the video?
During Phase One anyone and everyone you know. Registration is NOT required to vote. Each person can vote for your video once a day using the same IP address.
GotChosen reserves the right to action taken if fraud or technical failures or other events compromise the integrity of voting during the contest as determined by GotChosen at its sole discretion.
What is the scholarship award?
The Grand Prize is a US $3,000 scholarship and four (4) runner-up prizes of a US $250 scholarship each.
When and how will I know if I won?
The participants of the top 20 videos will be notified by email and will have 10 days to provide verification of eligibility and compliance with the rules and regulations. Their videos will then be voted on by a panel of judges. The name of the 5 winners will be announced by September 10, 2013 at www.gotchosen.com.
Note: The winners will be notified by e-mail only using the email address entered at registration. Make sure you use a valid email address and you check your inbox.
